Safety Tips
Your safety is our top priority. Follow these guidelines to buy and sell with confidence.
Meet in a Public Place
Always meet buyers or sellers in a well-lit, busy public location β such as a mall, coffee shop, or police station parking lot. Never invite strangers to your home.
Inspect Before You Pay
Always inspect the item in person before handing over any money. Test electronics, check for damage, and verify the item matches the listing description.
Use Safe Payment Methods
Use cash or trusted payment apps like Interac e-Transfer. Avoid wire transfers, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or any payment method you cannot reverse.
Avoid Deals That Seem Too Good
If a price is significantly below market value, be cautious. Scammers often use unrealistically low prices to attract victims.
Protect Your Personal Info
Use our built-in messaging system and avoid sharing your personal email, phone number, or address until you trust the other party.
Report Suspicious Listings
If something feels off, trust your instincts and walk away. Use the "Report" button on any listing to alert our moderation team.
Red Flags to Watch For
- Seller asks to pay before you see the item
- Buyer sends a cheque for more than the asking price
- Requests for payment via gift cards or wire transfer
- Pressure to complete the deal immediately
- Item cannot be inspected in person
- Communication only via text with no phone call offered
In an Emergency
If you feel you are in immediate danger or have been the victim of a crime, contact your local police by calling 911. You can also report fraud to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501.
